Jerry Jerome Watson

July 22, 1958 — December 16, 2024

Jerry Jerome Watson was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 22, 1958, to the late Ida Watson-Meades and William Meades. He transitioned from this earthly life on December 16, 2024. Jerry received his early education in the public school system of Wilmington, Delaware.

As a young man, Jerry began his career in the coin-wrapping business, which was part of Brook's Armored Car and later outsourced to R&S Management, where he worked alongside his twin brother, Larry. Jerry took immense pride in his responsibilities within the organization and enjoyed traveling to other states for training, development, and establishing business operations. He was also proud to help others gain employment with the company, where some remain employed to date. Jerry worked for over 40 years, within the organization, until his retirement in 2021.

Jerry had a deep passion for martial arts, training under some esteemed sensei’s including, but not limited to, the late Charles “Chezy” Miller-Bey. Under their guidance, Jerry earned a black belt in karate. His love for martial arts often led him to watch Bruce Lee films, much to the amusement of his daughters, who were subjected to these movies during their younger years. Even up to his passing, he would frequently remind us, “Don’t sleep on me; I still have karate moves.”

Whenever people spoke of Jerry, his twin brother Larry was invariably mentioned. They often reminisced about the days when both brothers owned matching Jaguars and their stylish wardrobes. Jerry and Larry were inseparable, and both relied on their eldest sister, Myra, for continuous guidance and support.

His daughters hold some fond memories of their dad, from him arching and penciling their eyebrows to the sleek ponytails with water and grease as children. As adults, he didn’t miss an opportunity to remind them of, “I’m your father” as if they needed reminding. Through it all, Jerry loved his daughters and was devoted to all seven of them. Thus, he proudly shared that he was blessed with seven daughters wherever he went.

Jerry was a believer in the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at New Destiny Fellowship, and his favorite expression when engaging with others was, “God is good.” He made it a point to convey his affection by saying “I love you” each time he interacted with family, which often occurred several times throughout the day. Jerry wanted everyone to feel cherished and had an abundance of love and appreciation for family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Watson; stepmother Evelyn Madison-Meades; siblings; Nathan Watson, Todd Madison, Vern Madison, and Gwendolyn Smallwood.

Jerry leaves cherished memories with his siblings: twin brother Larry Watson, Myra Watson, Lavern Watson, Wendell Madison, Antonette Madison, Casandra Madison, Evelyn Madison, Jacqueline Madison, William Martin, Michael Martin, Crystal Martin, and Sandy Martin.
