James Eugene Townsend

James Eugene Townsend departed this life peacefully on March 9, 2010, surrounded by family and friends.James was born on November 14, 1939 in Wilmington, DE to the late James R. and Ardella Wiggins Townsend. He was the oldest of five children. James grew up in Wilmington, where he attended Catholic and public schools. During his early years, he was an altar boy at St. Joseph's Church where he remained an active member until his death. At. age 17, he joined the Civil Air Patrol and later majored in Electrical Engineering in college. On March 15, 1980 James married Glenda M. Porter, his loving wife, best friend and greatest travel companion. From this union were 2 children; son Seneca and daughter Anika. James was employed at Hercules, Inc. and retired from Delaware Technical & Community College, Stanton Campus, Newark, DE, in 2007. He was a dedicated employee, with a great work ethnic and valued his job. He was recognized for achieving perfect attendance at both Hercules, Inc. and Delaware Technical & Community for over 20 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, Glenda his devoted wife of 30 years; 5 children; Seneca, Anika, Crystal, Bernadette, Sherri; 11 grandchildren, Tene', Rain, Rob, Amber, Chappelle, Khare', Nika, Brian, Ron, Alexis, Gus, Jr; 7 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Leonard(Valerie), Theodore(Irene), Johnny(Cynthia), and he was predeceased by 1 sister, Joyce Cunningham(David), a devoted mother-in-law Leona M.
