James Duncan

James Duncan, age 60 departed this life peacefully at home Friday, December 19, 2008 surrounded by his family at his side. He was born February 18, 1948 to the late Willie Mae Andrews and James Robert Duncan in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a longtime resident of NewCastle, DE. James was raised by both aunts Sarah Brown and Willie Mae Williams. James received his early education at Powderly Elementary School. At the age of 16, he came to Wilmington, DE and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1967. After, high school he joined the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War for 4 years. After military, he worked for Phoenix Steel and retired from Astra Zeneca Feb. 12, 2005 after 32 years of service. He leaves to cherish, his longtime devoted companion Valarie Gibbs of NewCastle; daughter Andrette Duncan of Upper Marlboro, MD, son Jamie Duncan of Tampa, FL and son Dayshone Duncan of NewCastle; 3 grandchildren Morgan, Madison and Jared; 2 god daughters Kelly Duncan and Aniyah Gibbs, and 1 god son Javon Gibbs; brother Eldred Duncan and wife Jackie and nephew Eldred Duncan, Jr.; aunt Willie Mae Williams of Wilmington, De; uncle Lankston Duncan and wife Eunice; devoted cousins and friends.
