On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, Jacqui departed this life to begin her eternal life in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved ones who have preceded her in death. Jacqueline L. Dorsey Wright Evans began her journey on February 8, 1936 in Wilmington, Delaware. She was blessed to be born to Estella Dorsey and Isaiah Conway. She attended #29 and Howard High School. She graduated from James H. Groves High School and completed courses at Delaware Technical & Community College and Cheyney University. Jacqueline was employed as a Paraprofessional in the Red Clay School District; working at Bayard, George Gray, P.S. DuPont and William C. Lewis Schools. Education was so meaningful to her that she left the school district and became the first in-home licensed daycare provider in the state of Delaware. She retired from this role in 1991 and worked part-time as the Receptionist at the House of Wright Mortuary. In her spare time, she traveled near and far with her late husband, Raleigh S. Evans, Sr., who treated her like a queen and would drive her anywhere she wanted to go. Jacqui leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Pierre A. Wright. Shorty Wright, Robert O. Wright I, LFD, CFSP (Deborah); and Butch Wright (Bernadette); one daughter, Jacquita L. Wright-Henderson, Ed.D (Keith); one brother, Herbert R. Dorsey, Sr. (Monica); 11 grandchildren Ebonese Brittingham, Pierre D. Wright(Keisha), Jamar Wright(Carmen), Dwayne Saylor, Sr.(Shameka), Maurice Foster I(Donna), Robert O. Wright II, Nychole Wright, Justen A. Wright(Trista), John W. Tucker V, Verone Rodgers, and Mercedes Lindsay;23 great grandchildren; Devoted friends, Carolyn Grinnell, Nancy Johns, Cynthia Warner, Jeretta Duckery, Geraldine Dawkins, Mary Lawrence, Sudonia Holland, Christine Lofland and Alohma Tompkins ; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
