Harry Henry Blackston

Retired New Castle County Superintendent Age 73 of Middletown, DE, and of the late Theophilus and Ada Blackston, departed this life Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Harry was a U.S. Army veteran, and retired as superintendent of New Castle County Sewer Maintenance in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of Trinity AME Church of Middletown, DE, where he served as a trustee, choir and finance committee member until his illness. He served as a Middletown councilman for 8 years and was also a faithful brother of Stone Square Lodge #22. Harry was preceded in death by sisters, Mattie Wilson and Verna Waters; brother, Elwood Duckery; and son, Larry. He was the husband of Rev. Barbara Blackston for for 17 years; and father of Harry, Lorraine, Verdell, Robin, Darlene Bustman and Corey. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Carter; brothers, William and Theophilus Jr.; 2 maternal aunts; 3 daughters-in-law; 3 sons-in-law; a special friend, Elder Darnell Henry; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
