Gwendolyn Mae Brady Quailes

January 29, 1952 — October 3, 2024

Gwendolyn Mae Brady Quailes departed this life peacefully at the Christiana ICU, Newark, DE in the early hours of the morning on October 3, 2024 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Francis L. Brady and Cornelia A. Roberts Brady. Her brothers Francis E. & Danny Reginal predeceased her.

Gwen (a.k.a. Sissy) was the fourth child and only girl in her family. She was born and raised in Delaware City, Delaware (DC). She attended elementary school at Dragon Run PS #118. A two-room segregated school house. And, then Gunning Bedford High School. After graduation she began working various jobs with her most recent employment was as a Home Health Aid.

Before long, after graduation she married Larry F. Quailes and they had two sons, Keith Allen (predeceased her) and Gregory Lee. She loved her boys unconditionally and she supported them in their activities and with much prayer. After many years of marriage, however, she and Larry divorced but remained close as co-parents.

Sissy was very spiritual and committed her life to God at an early age. During her youth she was very active at Mt. Salem UAME Church in Delaware City (DC). After moving from Delaware City and raising her children in New Castle, she attended Faith City Family Church. However, in her later years she returned to her home church in DC. At Mt. Selem she loved working in the kitchen; and, she joined the Missionary Auxiliary. Gwen loved service and serving people, she enjoyed cooking at home and taking meals to those in need. She loved interior decorating and always looked for an opportunity to use her skill to bless someone else. Her favorite song was “May the work I’ve done speak for me”.

Her sons graced her with three grandchildren: Ciare and Joshua Quailes (Keith) and Raquel Gabriella Quailes (Gregory). She loved her grandchildren although she did not get to see them often. She also loved her nieces and nephews with a special affinity for “Little” Craig A., Sr. And her beloved god-son Ashien Jamal “Skip” Brady.

Gwendoly Mae Brady Quailes leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved son Gregory and her grandchildren: Ciare, Joshua and Rachel Gabriella. Her brothers Gerald A. Brady (Karen) and Craig W. Brady (Kathleen). Her god-son Ashien J. Brady. Her nieces and nephews: Sean, Craig A. and Pamela, Devon and Melissa, Shannan, Drew and Evelyn, Camron A., Ebony, Dahniene and Wasiu Alfolabi, their children. Her special cousin Rachelle “Shelly” Wanamaker. Her sisters-in law Clementine F. Henderson, Karen Q. Brady and Kathleen L. Brady. Her former husband Larry F. Quailes.
