OBITUARY Gladys English-Brown was born and reared in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 9, 1931 to the late Anna Maude and James Robert Jorden. She graduated from Dobbins Vocational Technical School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she mastered her secretarial skills. As Gladys experienced many fruitful challenges in her life, she met and married the late Edward English, Sr. and from this union two children were born, Edward English, Jr. and Diane Linette Wood. Gladys was a special lady. She reached out and touched the hearts of many in a very special way. She decided to give her life to Christ and became an active member of the North Philadelphia Seventh Day Adventist Church. During her tenure she wore many hats. She served as church clerk, Sabbath school secretary, served as a member of the school and church board and also as associate treasurer for over 15 years. In September 1999, Gladys moved to Middletown, Delaware where she met and married Lewis Brown, Sr. Not only did they love one another dearly, they were very good friends and loved doing things together. In December 2004, she transferred her church membership to Voice of Truth Seventh Day Adventist Church, New Castle, Delaware. She was an active member and served as assistant Sabbath school super attendant.
