Georgia Greaves

July 19, 1943 — September 11, 2021

Georgia Greaves, affectionately known as Miss G/ GG, was born in Brown's Town in the parish of St. Ann on a beautiful island of Jamaica. Georgia was born on July 19, 1943. She was the first of four children for her mother, Miss Hilda Allen. Miss G is survived by her three siblings: Edgar, Milton, and Paul; her 7 children: Jacqueline (Sharon), Egbert (Okro), Isaac(Flatty), Charmaine (Beth), Caleb (Kay), Godfrey (Dennis), and Violet (Theresa). She also leaves behind her 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Miss G attended primary and secondary school in Brown's Town. Upon completion of her academic studies she immediately embarked on a number of business activities which included the skills of a seamstress, and for many years made her own apparel that she sold in the Brown's Town market while raising and managing her farm animals at the same time. Miss Gee raised chickens, pigs, goats, cats and dogs, her animals meant everything to her. She was truly a hardworking, independent person, who didn't believe in working for other people when she had the ability to help herself.

Miss G was a God-fearing Christian, loving person who would often take people who were down and out on their luck into her home until they could stand on their feet again. Miss G was never a wealthy person, but she always made sure her children had food to eat and clothes on their backs. She went a million and one for her children and always made her children her priority. She worked extra hard to raise and provide for her family and has left a lasting legacy for her children today to do the same. Likewise, she truly embodied who a renaissance woman is and should be.

After raising and schooling her seven children and seeing them reach adulthood and some already started a family of their own, Miss G knew that she now needed to take life a little easier. Consequently, she started to travel to the United States in 1996 to visit her first son, Egbert (Okro).

Within the next couple of years, Miss G focused on raising animals and planting crops. She also spent her time traveling back and forth to the USA to visit her three daughters and one of her sons. She would divide her time between the USA and Jamaica; spending her summer in the USA and winters in Jamaica. While in the USA, she would attend the Straightgate Shiloh Apostolic Church regularly.

Late last year Miss G migrated to the USA where she lived with her three daughters who took care of her while her health started to deteriorate. She struggled with several health complications and departed this life on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 9:24 pm, surrounded by her loved ones. She made the transition peacefully to be with her Lord and savior.
May her soul rest in perpetual peace. Previous Events
