Francis Mae Inman was born in Fairmont, North Carolina on May 13, 1943, to the late Lilly Nance Hamilton and Perry Hamilton. She departed this life on October 23, 2022, at the MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center with her loved ones at her side.
Francis was educated in the Bethea Township School District in South Carolina. She was married to James W. Inman and relocated to Newark, New Jersey in 1959. Francis was a stay-at-home mother while raising her nine children. She occasionally worked as a baker and later as a Food Preparer with Canteen Food Catering Services located in Roseland, New Jersey until retirement.
Francis accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Roselle, New Jersey. She enjoyed reading the Bible and attended church regularly. While living in Atlanta, Georgia she was a member of Crusselle Freeman Church of the Deaf. After moving back to Maryland, she enjoyed watching Pilgrim Baptist Church Worship Services online due to Covid restrictions.
Francis enjoyed life. She especially enjoyed playing games with her family and friends. At age 28, Francis lost her hearing due to medical complications. Despite this limitation, she continued to live her life independently. She enrolled in a sign language course and learned to read lips. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the art of sign language to communicate her favorite phrase, "I love you." She enjoyed baking from scratch, cooking, and hosting family gatherings. Francis will be remembered for her style of dress, beautiful hair, bright eyes, and smile, and for keeping a home that was warm and adoringly furnished. She never hesitated to offer loving advice when needed to help others.
Francis was preceded in death by her parents, Lilly & Perry Hamilton, siblings Alma Hamilton, Mack Junior Hamilton, Irma Neil Inman, Charles Thomas Hamilton, Eddie Hamilton, Nathaniel Jerry Hamilton, Helen Hamilton, Lee Vern Hamilton, and beloved son Jerry Inman.
