Evelyn Frances Bender Wilson

Passed away October 10 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Eve was one of 7 children born to Mary and George Monds in Rison, Ark. After growing up in Hot Springs, Eve married John F. Bender, Jr., in 1952 and moved to Wilmington, DE. Eve led a rich and varied life. With her husband John, they raised 5 remarkable children, Sherry, Rick, Rose, Tony and Jody while living in Florida, Texas, Maryland and Delaware. Eve was a Cub Scout den mother, and sold insurance with her husband. She was an avid music lover, and could outlast many people on the dance floor. Eve loved gardening, and spent many days 'playing in the yard', tending her flowers and birdwatching. She enjoyed puzzles and was a champion on board games. Eve loved to travel, and once paid for an entire vacation with half-dollars that she had saved. She would also play dolls with her granddaughters for hours at a time. Eve was a cherished mother and friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with her kids, her sister Clara, and her 'Golden Girls'. Many of us remember sitting for hours with Eve at the kitchen table, drinking coffee and talking with her about life. Nothing phased her; she had heard or seen it all in her life and could relate to anyone on any subject. Eve was always able to give wise counsel to anybody with a problem, and was always on hand to celebrate life's joys. Eve was predeceased by her husband John F. Bender Jr., her husband Ron Wilson, and her son John F. ('Rick') Bender III. She is survived by her children Sherry Bender (Frank); Rose Giannotti (Vincent); Anthony Bender (Diane); and Jody Bender (Cyndy). She is also survived by her sister Clara Butler (Irv), and her in-laws Peggy and Jimmy. She is survived by her grandchildren Brandie, Andrea, Jonathan, Autumn, Vinnie, Anna, Roy, Eric, Shelly, and Nathan. Eve is also survived by her great-grandchildren Brittney, Gabby, John, Kaylyn, Amber, Brayden, Vinnie, Caleb and Ryan. She is also survived by a host of beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends.
