Eugene L. Gibbs

June 25, 1929 — October 18, 2024

Eugene Lewis Gibbs (Tippy) was the son of the late Marry and Earl Gibbs on June 25th 1929, in Coleman

Maryland. His mother passed away when he was born and was raised by Beulah Jackson.

The Lord gently closed Eugene eyes, embraced him and entered him into his heavenly Kingdom on

Friday October 18th, 2024.


Eugene was educated in the Kent County Public School System.

Eugene was joined in holy matrimony on September 11, 1948, to the late Lavenia Mary Jackson. Eight

children were born from the union. Later, he married Linda lambert on May 6, 2006.

Eugene worked for over 49 years for Local 199. He loved construction work. Every time we crossed

the St. Georges Bridge, he would quickly tell you, he helped build this here bridge. He was a dedicated

hard worker.


Eugene joined Union United Methodist Church of Colman. MD. Later, he joined Ringold Chaple

Church, in Armstrong Corner, De. Under the pastorate of late pastor Elliott Taylor and Pastor Perry

Davis. He joined Elizabeth AME, pastorate under the late Rev. Seals. Later, he joined The Independent

Methodist Church, under the pastorate of the late Rev. Ronald Hayes (wife, Rev. Cheryl Hayes). The

Lord later led him to Nu ViZion World Harvest Ministries, under the pastorate Apostle Ny'Ashia

Coryaba. Eugene was ordained an Elder on June 20th, 2021. He sang on many choirs and he was a

devoted leader. He enjoyed sharing the goodness of the Lord with everyone he met. He would ask you,

ARE YOU BORN AGAIN? One of his favorite sayings when he would leave church was, SEE YOU ON

THE FIRST.


Eugene was a very good dominoes and checker player. When you would play him, he would talk to

you the whole time and he only gave you a few minutes to make your move. He enjoyed baseball and

watching wrestling. His favorite food was chicken.

Eugene was preceded in death by his first wife Lavenia Gibbs, Children, Tyrone Gibbs, Pastor Regina

Johns and Charles Gibbs, Uhuru Gibbs and Ernest Moody Jr.; four brothers: Clarence, Julius, Earl,

Calvin Gibbs seven sisters: Velma Gittens, Linora Brown, Edna Gibbs, Aldotha Gibbs, Rebecca

Martin, Lucile Gibbs, Audrey Lawson.


Eugene leaves to cherish his memory, wife Linda Gibbs. His children Rosalie Davis, Herman Gibbs

(Shelly), James Lewis Gibbs, Helen Morehead (Terrance Sr.), Dorene Simms (Richard). Grand children

Roger Gibbs, Dor Ann Dorsey (Michael), Desarie Gibbs, Tracy Murry ( James) Sharon Gibbs Deneka

Smith (Gau-wan Sr.) Lateka Jones, Kimberly Harrison, Monica Butler, Raymond Butler, Tyrone Gibbs Jr.

Crissy Gibbs, Nekhi Gibbs and Portray Gibbs. Step Children: James and Stanley Lambert; 37 great grads

and 64 Great Great grand children and a host host of church family and friends.
