Emmagene Madeline Brummell

Emmagene Madeline Thornton Brummell lovingly known as "Ding" departed this life to begin life anew and everlasting on Thursday, May 20, 2021.

Emma was born to the late Richard and Marion Thornton on August 5, 1951 by a midwife at the family home located in Paulsboro, NJ. She attended Paulsboro High School and retired from MBNA Bank in Newark, Del. Emma accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Paulsboro, NJ.

Emma was quiet and to herself but Louie Norman caught her eye and her first son Lamont louis Thornton was born. Ten years later came another blessing, her second son Kent Thornton Granger was born.

In 1996, Emma found her soulmate Maurice Brummell. They celebrated many years together until his sudden death a year to the day of her death.

Emma leaves to cherish her memory her two loving sons, Lamont and Kent; six sisters, Delores Taylor, Sylvia Benjamin, Marion Thornton, Harriet Pidliskey (Mike), Diana Thornton, Arlene Fowlkes (James), and Ronica Holloway (Leon); four brothers, Ricardo Thornton, Jose Thornton (Bridget), Herbert Thornton and Lawrence Thornton (Antoinette); also six grandchildren, Talasha, Da'Nisha, Latasha, Rajay, Isreal and Amanda; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends including a special friend Lloyd Campbell "Mickey".
