Elizabeth Nadine Ponder-Shaw went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2009 surrounded by family and friends. Elizabeth was born May 22, 1954 in Wilmington, DE to Elizabeth D. Ponder and Alonzo Ponder. "Na-Na" as she was affectionately called by family and friends, received her early education in the Wilmington public schools. "Na-Na" graduated from Howard High in 1973, and continued her education at the University of Delaware until enlisting into the US Air Force where she retired. "Na-Na" was the first African American Female of the American Legion Post #12 and Honor Color Guards. After retiring from the Air Force, "Na" came back to Wilmington, DE where she began employment with MBNA Bank. Na-Na was a dedicated member of The Order of Easten Stars. Na-Na and other old classmates and friends successfully began a George Gray Elementary School Reunion. Na-Na is preceded in death by her father, Alonzo Ponder and leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Elizabeth D. Ponder.; 2 brothers, Percy Ponder (Lavern) and otis Hayes; 2 nephews, percy Ponder Jr and Otis Hayes Jr.; 5 aunts; 2 god-children; 1 great niece and nephew and a host of cousins and many friends.
