Earl Milton Smith, son of the late Cecil and Catherine Smith was born on December 1, 1929 in Fayetteville (Garten) West Virginia.
He departed this life on May 23, 2020. Earl attended Fayetteville Consolidated Public School and graduated from W.E.B. Dubois Senior High School in Mt. Hope, West Virginia. He enlisted in the US Air Force after high school. Upon his completion of 3 years of duty in the Air Force he reenlisted in the US Army where he remained after completing 30 years of Military Service. During those years he was in Vietnam and many years in Korea. He returned to Korea as a civilian and was there for quite a number of years. During that time he coached a basketball team and took several educational courses through the mail. He was an avid reader and loved sports.
His parents, sister Flora and brother Kenneth preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn, his sisters Iris Elaine Smith of Rochester, N.Y., Sharon Diane Laster of Wilmington, DE, and Janice Parks Coleman (Ernest) of Hudson Oaks, TX; a host of nieces, nephews and many wonderful and faithful friends.
