The Life Journey of Douglas W Anderson Douglas William Anderson, the son of the late William Samuel and Gwendolyn J. Anderson, was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on November 24, 1948. His family moved to Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania in 1951. He went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 8th, 2019. Douglas began his educated in the Darby township school system and later received his GED while in the U.S Navy. Douglas served in the U.S Navy and fought in the Vietnam War. He was later medically discharged. After his military service, he moved to several locations and settled down in New Castle, Delaware. Douglas worked several odd jobs including Allegheny lighting company, and later Douglas applied and tested for a position with British Petroleum and out of over 500 candidates he scored among the top ten. Hewas hired as a machinist for British Petroleum and later was educated by the company to be a welder. He worked for British Petroleum for 17 years. Douglas was a member of the Church of Christ, Philadelphia, PA. He enjoyed going to Sunday services. He loved attending Bible study lessons to discuss the Bible in detail. He had a great faith in God that never wavered. Douglas was a fun-loving person who always "kept it real". He loved God, life, and people especially his grandchildren. Douglas would always brag about his grandchildren accomplishments. He was especially looking forward to his first Grandchild college graduation from the University of Pennsylvania on August the 10th which was two days after his death. Douglas would always say what was on his mind, and loved giving honest advice on many subjects. He especially loved having heated debates on politics and the Bible. He also loved watching his beloved Philadelphia Eagles,fishing, and traveling to different places. Douglas is preceded in death by his father, William S Anderson, his sister, Joyce Clark and his brother, Kenneth Anderson. Douglas leaves to mourn his beloved mother, Gwendolyn J. Anderson, Morris Anderson (brother), Sylvia Castro (sister), children; Darshelly Anderson, Douglas Anderson II, David Porter, Minka Hill (Steven Sr.), and Marcell Anderson; Grandchildren; Jaeyanna Anderson, Douglas Anderson III, Adeah Anderson, Amani Hines, Mackenzie Shingler, Steven Hill Jr, Morgan Hill, Alexander Anderson, Jaleighsa Anderson, and; Great grandson Josiah Elijah Gillette-Taylor who he referred to as "Greatness"; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
