Doris N. McAdoo was born March 30, 1940, in Dooley County, Georgia, to the late Wilson and Willie Mae McAdoo. She moved to Delaware in the summer of 1955. Doris continued her education in the public school system in Wilmington. She joined Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church in the summer of 1955. She was a very active member, serving as a church conference representative for five years, until her health declined. Doris loved singing and the Gospel Chorus was her heart. The United Methodist Women's Group was very special to her. In 1958, she married Isaiah E. Newman Jr. From that union, Ivan E. Newman and Larry E. Newman Sr. were born. Doris worked in the school system as a cafeteria manager, a correctional officer for the State of Delaware, and a security guard in Central Station. She leaves to cherish her memories,one brother Eulas Barnes (Francis), sister Bernice Marsh, and sister Mary Roane (preceded her in death). Two sons, Ivan E. Newman (Minerva), Larry E. Newman Sr. (Valerie), two grandchildren Samara A. Newman (who is expecting Doris' first great grandchild in a few months), Larry E. Newman Jr. a step granddaughter Nicole Pritchett (Dwayne), two step great grandchildren Justin and Zhara, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. One beloved nieceThairs Marsh was like a daughter for many years.
