Elder Donna Maria Jones, daughter of the late Elder Jerusha Lee Jones and the late Naomi Elizabeth Jones, was born on October 5, 1967, in Wilmington, Delaware. She departed this life on March 5, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Elder Donna’s early education began at St. Patrick’s School and continued at St. Mark’s High School, where she earned her high school diploma. She then pursued higher education at the University of Delaware, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.
Following her graduation, Elder Donna began her professional career as a telemarketer at MBNA in Wilmington, Delaware. Through dedication and hard work, she advanced to the position of Executive Assistant and was actively involved in MBNA’s Wellness Program. After leaving MBNA, she transitioned into education, serving as a substitute teacher for Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Glen Burnie, Maryland, where she worked with students across all grade levels. Her commitment to education led her to become a full-time permanent substitute.
Elder Donna’s passion for music began at the young age of six when she learned to play the piano at the Christiana Community Center in Wilmington, Delaware. Her musical journey continued as she became the Assistant Pianist for Mt. Calvary A.U.M.P. Church in Spencerville, Maryland. In time, she assumed the role of Pianist and Choir Director, sharing her love for worship through music.
Her spiritual calling led her to ministry under the leadership of her father, the late Elder Jerusha L. Jones. She initially served as a Lay Speaker and, on May 19, 1995, was part of the founding of New Life Church of God and Christ, where Elder Jerusha L. Jones served as Pastor. Over the years, Elder Donna continued her faithful service as Director of Music. On November 23, 2008, she was ordained as an Elder, a testament to her devotion and commitment to her faith. Following the passing of Pastor Jones, she and Elder Mark Jones assumed pastoral leadership of New Life Church of God and Christ in Silver Spring, Maryland.
