Donald L. Johnson was born on February 13,1941 in Wilmington,Delaware to the late Joseph H. and Ruth Mae Johnson. "Pootaman" as he was affectionately known by family and friends departed this life on Saturday February 20,2021 at the Christiana Hospital. Donald recieved his early education in the public school of Wilmington. He graduated from the historic Howard High School in 1959. He served in the Military Branch of the United States Army as a PFC,after 6 years of service he was honorably discharged in 1969. He later worked for the Greyhound Line Inc. for several years before he became employed at Amtrak as a driver, retiring in 2010 after 30 plus years. Donald was a sport enthusiast.He loved playing baseball and played for many years as a coach for the womens softball team, He also enjoyed traveling to many states and countries around the world with his life long partner. Donald was a true Dallas Cowboys fan. He looked forward to "Dem Boys" playing, even though they had some bad seasons; he was a die hard fan for life. Pootaman also had a passion for fishing at many diffrent locations when not taking fishing trips out to sea. And last but not least Donald loved cooking outdoors on the grill,grilling his favorite (Ribs) which will melt in your mouth. The flavor was out of this world. He'll especially be missed on the holidays,making his ribs. Donald was preceeded in death by his life long partner, Marcella Bullock of 50 plus years, three brothers,James C. Brown (JC), Joseph Johnson Jr.,Daniel Johnson (Fats) one son Lee Bullock (Toot),one grandson Marice Bullock (Mar) He leaves to cherish his memory one sister Eva Mae Wallace, four children Renee Bartley, Donald Bartley, Ronald Bullock and Lisa Bullock, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces,nephews,cousins,family and friends and his road dog Erton.
