Donald Eugene Saunders

Donald Eugene Saunders was born January 1, 1940 in Middletown, DE to the late Ruth A. Saunders and the late Eugene Garnett. He departed this life on Monday, May 22, 2023 in Wilmington, DE.

Donald, affectionately known as “Rags” received his early education from the Louis L. Reading School. He was employed by the Chrysler Motor Company for a number of years as an assembly worker. Later, he moved to California were he was employed by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority as a Transportation dispatcher.

Donald (Rag) was an avid sports fan, He loved watching basketball and football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved to watch Jeopardy. He had a keen interest in people. He was a people’s person. He loved to talk/gossip in regards to things going on around town.

He is survived by daughters Denise Perkins and Iona Queen, three granddaughters, two grandsons and great grandchildren, sister Evelyn Saunders-Raison, half brother Nathan Garnett, niece Tonya and nephew Vernon as well as a host of family and friends.
