Deborah C. Simmons

Deborah Simmons, affectionately known as Deb/Debbie was born in Engelhard, North Carolina on August 23, 1956. She departed this life on February 10, 2025. 

She received her early childhood education in Engelhard, North Carolina before relocating to Wilmington, Delaware as a teen. She worked for many years in the hospitality industry. A career she truly enjoyed. 

Her radiant smile lit up a room. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, tending to plants, and watching scary movies into the wee hours of the night. She also enjoyed singing songs at the top of her lungs from her favorite singer Teena Marie. Spending quality time with friends and family was something she loved and cherished. She lived life to the fullest and lived it the best way she knew how. 

Although Deborah is gone, she is not forgotten. She will live in our hearts forever. 

Deborah was preceded in death by her mother Helen Gibbs, two brothers Orlando and James Gibbs, three sisters, Peggy Hoyle, Alice Lum, and Angelia Gibbs, and niece Brianna Gibbs. 

Deborah is survived by two sisters, Maggie and Cindy Gibbs, her daughter Eliaka (Nicky) Gibbs, sons Tyron Gibbs (and children) and Edward Gibbs, granddaughter Kiera Gibbs, great grandson Dawayne Perkins Jr., and a host of other family members and friends.
