Debbie L. Holmes, the daughter of John Willie Parker & the late Shirley C. Parker was born on November 10, 1963 in Lewes, DE. She transitioned from this life on Sunday, March 9, 2025 with her husband by her side.
Debbie met Anthony D. Holmes, Sr. in 1983 and on May 31,1985 was united in Holy Matrimony and from this union Anthony D. Holmes, Jr. was born and along with a stepdaughter Carolissa Holmes became a family.
Debbie received her education from the Colonial School District of New Castle, DE graduating from William Penn High School in 1981. Upon completing her education, she was employed by Ames Stores, Denny’s Restaurants, Cigna Corporation, & American Homepatient. She later retired from Christiana Health Care.
Debbie was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and currently a member of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Oscar L. Turk, Jr. She joined in 1995 under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Herbert J. Owens, Sr, Pastor Emeritus. During her membership years, she attended church faithfully. She was a faithful and serving member in the following ministries: Rock of Ages Choir, Intercessory Prayer & the Willing Workers.
Debbie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and Auntie who loved spending time with her family; especially with her devoted granddaughter, “Nae.” She enjoyed both traveling and going on cruises. Debbie was an awesome cook and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings where her family looked forward to her legendary macaroni and cheese, potato salad and yeast rolls. She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. She enjoyed singing, listening to gospel music, bowling, and watching “Lifetime” movies. She, also, was a plant lover and a collector of angel figurines. Debbie was a very sincere, compassionate, and caring person who shared her heart and love with all that were near and dear to her.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley C. Parker. Debbie leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of over 39 years, Anthony D. Holmes, Sr.; Son, Anthony D. Holmes, Jr.; Stepdaughter, Carolissa Holmes; Father, John W. Parker (Eunice); Siblings: Betty, Pat, Willie, & Angie; Grandchildren: Charnae, Elijah, Emmanuel, Elaiya, Traimeir, Traivonna, Tylise, Tylire, Tyriq, & Tahmid; Great-Granddaughter, Naomi; Brother-In-Law, Bishop William Holmes, IV; Sister-In-Law, Karen Glymph; Three Stepsisters; One Stepbrother; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
