Deacon Albert Henry Clary

August 11, 1939 — October 18, 2020

Deacon Albert Henry Clary was born on August 11, 1939 in Wilmington, DE to the late William Henry Clary and Daisy Lampson. He departed this life on October 18, 2020 at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.

Albert received schooling in both New Castle County and Kent County Schools. He spent ten years at the Stokely Center in Millsboro, DE in various job assignments.

Albert was relocated to Wilmington, DE to live with his late sister, Harriett Graham in 1964. That is when he began to learn more about his ability to become self-supporting. He was hired by the former Strawbridge & Clothier department store as a dishwasher. When they were forced to close, he was taught at the Goodwill Industries, Inc. how to be a janitor and catch the DART bus to and from work. In 2000, he retired from his janitorial work due to his age. After his retirement, he attended the Senior Reflections Day Program at the Delaware Elwyn. He would always talk about his daily events and how he loved the bible study and singing days. They would always ask him to sing a song or two! He was loved by the entire staff as well as his co-attendees.

Albert received the Lord Jesus the Christ as his savior at the Temple United Church, Inc. under the leadership of Apostle Dr. John T. Graham, his brother-in-love. He was a faithful member and held the positions of Usher, Trustee and Deacon in the church. He was loved by all of those who worked with him for "his willingness" to participate.

Albert traveled up and down the east coast with Apostle Dr. John T. Graham for more than fifty years. He loved the Lord and meeting many friends of the various churches. He would always tell you "I don't play with the Man" referencing the Lord. His favorite song, "Your Grace And Mercy", was a standard in the Temple Unite Church. He literally taught the musician with a "nod of his head" when to play his song. Often, Deacon Clary would start the songs that only he had the words for.

Albert leaves to cherish his memories: his sister, Missionary Ellen Chase, brother-in-love, Apostle Dr. John T. Graham (Matrue), nephews, Deacon Robert and Reginald Hargrow, nieces, Debbie Johnson, Donna Johnson Mcrea and Evangelist Mary Mays, great nieces, Antoinette (Edward) Shipley, Elder Josephine Allen, Rozalyn Chandler, Celetta Hall, Cherelle Edwards and Zillah Stewart and a host of loving relatives and friends.
