Darryl Vaughn Rowe

Darryl V. Rowe, aged 71, also known as "Mackey" and affectionately referred to by some as "Brother Rowe," was born on July 15, 1953, at Wilmington Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Clarence A. Rowe and Alice L. Lloyd. He passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Darryl was one of six siblings, with four sisters—Sharon Jackson, Jacqueline Jenkins, Denise Lloyd, and the late Robin Lloyd—and two brothers, the late Fabian Rowe and Clarence Rowe.

His early education commenced at Drew Pyle Elementary, and he graduated from Howard High School in Wilmington, Delaware. Darryl worked at the DuPont Experimental Station before later taking on various roles with Fran Construction.

Darryl had a passion for playing chess, enjoyed watching sports, and had a unique fondness for speaking in Pig Latin.

He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and godfather. At the age of 18, he welcomed his firstborn son, Shannon Butcher, followed by his daughter, Kenya Allen.

On July 19, 1975, Darryl married Rochelle Jackson, with whom he had three children: Dawn, Vaughn, and Nickea Rowe, as well as a bonus daughter, Jessica Owens.

Darryl's legacy includes 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence A. Rowe and Alice Lloyd; his son, Vaughan Rowe; his siblings, Clarence Rowe, Fabian Rowe, and Robin Lloyd; his great-grandson, Ahsan Rowe; his aunts, Rosa Walker and Thelma Pennick; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is survived by his bonus son, Maurice Williams; his best friend, Keith Starkey; and his godson, Michael Watts.
