Darlene L. Grimes , daughter of Ruth A. and the late Nathaniel E. Grimes went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Heartland Hospice House. Darlene was born May 19, 1957 in Wilmington, DE. She received her early education in the Wilmington Public Schools. She graduated from Howard High School in June of 1975 with Honors, receiving certificates in Cosmetology Contest, outstanding Achievement in Painting, achievement in Modern Problems, Vocational Industrial Club Officer, Cooperation in Cosmetology Class, Membership in the Cosmetology Club, Highest Scholarship in Cosmetology for 3 years, representing the Cosmetology Department in the VICA Contest. After graduation, Darlene furthered her education in Cosmetology by attending Schilling-Douglas School of Hair Design in Newark, DE. She received her diploma in April 1978. In August of 1991, Darlene received a certificate in recognition of Successfully Completing "Cutting Made Simple" from Bronner Brothers International Beauty Show of Atlanta, Georgia. In the early 80's, Darlene opened her Hair Salon and became a successful Hair Designer until she took ill. Darlene loved shopping, listening to Jazz, eating out with friends, traveling, shopping for shoes and shopping for Art Work. She loved reading and studying the Bible. Darlene loved the Lord and loved the work of God. Loved to listen to Bee Bee and Cee Cee Winins. Darlene loved celebrating her Mother's birthday and celebrating birthdays with friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel E. Grimes, who she is having a family reunion with right now!! She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her mother, Ruth A. Grimes; 6 brothers, Douglas W. Perkins )Michelle), Nathaniel E. Perkins, Rev. Bruce A. Perkins (Andrea), Ronald D. Grimes, Kenneth H. Grimes (Sharon) and Stephen Grimes; 2 sisters, Patricia A. Grimes and Cathy M. Grimes; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; 6 very special friends, Juanita Thomas, Annette Raiford, Jeanette Raiford, Gerald Chavis, Zelda Collins and Carmen Roberts.
