Cornell Garvin Sr.

August 30, 1955 — August 6, 2022

Cornell Garvin was born August 30, 1955 in Charleston, South Carolina to Rosella Garvin and the late Willie Bush. Cornell passed away at home peacefully in his sleep on August 6, 2022.

Cornell was raised by his aunt Dorothy Garvin in Elko, South Carolina. He received his education in the Elko South Carolina School System, and at the age of 17, he moved to Wilmington, Delaware with his mother Rosella. This is where he started working as a concrete finisher putting in over 30 years perfecting his craft--he was good at it! Cornell was also a big Dallas Cowboys fan.

Cornell moved back to Elko in early 2000 and then became a faithful member of St. Peters Baptist Church where he also joined the Voices of Elko. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his nieces and nephews. His nieces gave him the nickname Chicken Bone and thereafter he went by the name of Bone Cornell.

Cornell was preceded in death by his father Willie Bush, grandparents Shine and Roselee Garvin and son Cornell Garvin, Jr.

Cornell is survived by his mother Rosella Garvin, daughter Alisha Garvin, his only sister Lynnie Garvin, two brothers Jerome and Otis Garvin, aunts Dorothy Garvin and Joann Braxton, uncle Thomas Garvin, nieces Nisheea, Tajah, Nashonda, Briana and Giana Garvin, nephews Tierece, Ahmad and Issiah Garvin, four great-nieces, three great-nephews, three good friends Ronnie Mitchell, Eddie Stanford and Wiley James, and a host of family and friends.
