Constance U. Locke

Constance U. Locke, affectionately known as Connie, was born on June 4, 1948, in Farmville, Virginia (Prince Edward County), to Gladys Marie Price and William Lee. She peacefully passed away on February 7, 2025, at 11:22 p.m. at Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.

Connie’s early education was interrupted by segregation, which led her to take on the role of homemaker for her siblings. Though she did not complete high school, she devoted her life to her family. She later married and became a dedicated homemaker, raising her five children. Over the years, she also worked intermittently in factories but found her greatest fulfillment in caring for her loved ones.

A faithful member of Star Hope Baptist Church, Connie found joy in her faith and community. She had a passion for cooking and was happiest when preparing meals for family and friends. She also loved ceramics and never missed an episode of General Hospital with an ice cold Pepsi!

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Lee; her husband, Robert Locke, sister, Deloris Lee; her niece, Lanora Lee; and her beloved. She is survived by her children: Dr. Mildred Bradshaw, Robert Locke, John Locke, Michael Locke, and Todd Locke. She also leaves behind her siblings: William Lee, Jim Lee, and Gladys Lee. Connie’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Chantol Batiste, Markel Weldon, Martia Weldon, Sheena Locke, Jimmy Locke, Taylor Locke, Nino Locke, Angel Locke, Nina Locke, Jacob Locke, Todd Jr. Locke, China Locke, Idris Locke, and Layla Locke. Her great-grandchildren include Preston Story, Aurora Weldon, Gia Weldon, Ibrahim Locke, Ishoc Locke, Elisha Locke, Michael Locke Jr., Alana Locke, Angel Locke Jr. , and Leon Locke.

Connie’s love, warmth, and devotion to her family will always be cherished. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
