Christine Delores Spencer, daughter of the late Dorothy Christine and James Leroy Spencer, was born on August 31, 1951, in Wilmington, Delaware. She received her early education in the public schools of Wilmington and graduated from DeLaWarr High School in 1969. She went on to further her education, graduating from the Nursing School of Wilmington in 1982. She worked for Christiana Care as a registered nurse. During her tenure, she received countless accolades and Excellence Awards as an RN and CRRN, which included being featured in the Delaware News Journal! She retired after 45 years of faithful, exceptional service.
Over the course of time, Christine and Isaac Branch had two beautiful daughters, Tashua “Toy” and Tamu. They loved their girls and made many sacrifices to give them the best care, as they were growing up. Christine maintained a very close relationship with them. She was a very patient, caring and loving person. They joined Newark Church of Christ in the 1980’s. Always demonstrating the love of Christ, she gave her all, spending countless hours serving others at Hope Dining Room, Saturday Breakfast Mission, and other community outreach endeavors.
Christine and Michael DuBose married on September 4, 1991 at Cedar’s Church of Christ. They were always together, like two peas in a pod! For many years, they opened their home to family, friends and loved ones for various holidays, birthdays and special occasions. Everyone especially loved Chrissy’s meatballs, in addition to countless other delicious meals she made. There will always be fond memories of her laughing, joking and cutting up with her sisters!
Christine enjoyed playing board games and card games, like Concentration and Go Fish, with her grandchildren. Being with them always brightened her day! She had a soft spot for each one of them. They loved being with her as well, going different places, working at the church, serving breakfast to the community, and working at the resale shop, where she loved to find a good bargain. One of her favorite pastimes was playing Wordscape on her phone.
Christine was strong, courageous and always in good spirits. She loved the Lord and fought the good fight of faith, enduring many health conditions. Her favorite song was “Going up Yonder” and her favorite saying was, “Blessings to you Today!”. On March 6, 2025, in the place where she served so many others, Christine went home to rest in the arms of the Lord.
