Charles J. Wilson

Charles James Wilson, better known as Pete, Peter-Love & L.A. to family and friends peacefully

transitioned on Friday November 10, 2023. Charles was born to Lucille Ledbetter Brown and the late James “Jimmy” Wilson on March 19, 1964, in Tacoma Washington.

Charles attended the Penns Grove/Carneys Point School System, graduating in 1983. At an early

age Charles attended the St. Mathew Church under the late Dr. Peter and Mother Mary

Washington in Penns Grove, New Jersey, and Second Baptist Church of Pedricktown, New Jersey

under the late Dr. Edward Dorn.

Charles was active in all sports, football, basketball, but excelled in track and field, he was named “track runner of the year” in 1982.

Charles better known as “Pete” to his peers in school was a true ladies’ man, with the bright eyes, the silky, black, wavey hair, and his contagious smile earned him the name Peter -Love. Pete loved to dress and was a neat freak about everything. Pete was a family man, who loved all his family. He just got

on everyone’s nerves at times, but you had to Love him. He always bragged about having nieces and nephews of all nationalities, and all of them loved “Uncle Pete”.

Being a sharp dresser in his younger years surely did change as he got older, cause now you would notice him a mile away with bright orange or silver sneakers on, and always wearing a bandana and hat. His

fashion surely did change.

If Pete had it, he would give it to you, but you had to catch him at the right time, but trust and believe it was going to cost you one way or another. After graduation, Pete immediately joined the United States, Army serving two terms. While in the military, one thing Pete did was make sure his mom and younger siblings were all good. He would have packages of clothes coming every month for his younger siblings.

Pete’s first car was a cream Cadillac and what a coincidence his last car was a black Cadillac. Pete was very well known in the town of Penns Grove, and anything he did out of order would get back to his mom Mrs. Lucille quick, and in the snap of a finger, she would call him, and he got the “Lucille Special” and we all know what that is.

Pete loved all his kids in his own way, and often bragged about the talent they had, especially his grandsons. To know Pete, was to Love him, even with his smart mouth.

Charles is pre-deceased by his father James Wilson, Stepfather Rev. Melvin Brown, Maternal

Grandparents, Charles and Rosa Mae Ledbetter, Paternal Grandparents Clarence L, and Mabel E.

Wilson, 3 brothers, Germaine, and Charles Brown, (Tweety Bird), and Rodney Cleveland, 3 sisters,

Trudy Mae Ledbetter, Jenell Cleveland, and Andrea “Angie” Wilson.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his loving Mother Lucille Brown, wife Ursula Wilson, 4

children Pete Acree, Craig Jones, Darian Johnson, and Aryanah Wilson, grandchildren Cameron,

Idalia, James, Craig Jr., Cy’Mir, and Jamarion, 1 great grandson Preston, 4 brothers, Garrette

Wilson (Michelle), Carl Washington Jr. (Ignacia), Robert Snipes, Dayton Snipes, and Melvin Robinson

(Kathy), 5 Sisters Dee Dee Wilson (Bune), Kenya Robinson, Dana Trotter, Lisa Wilson, and Sabre
