Carrie Belle Morrison Smith was born in Ellaville, Georgia on February 27, 1935 and departed this life in Wilmington, Delaware at the Heartland Hospice House on Thursday, July 19, 2012. She was affectionately known as Belle "Sister" Carrie, Mom, Mom-Mom, and "Aunt Care-Bell" She attended the public schools in Buena Vista, GA. She helped her parents raise her younger siblings. She met and courted Leo Smith whom she married on January 20th, 1951 and shared 61 years of matrimony. From this union were borne Linda Jean, Dorothea Lorraine and Leo Andrew. After moving to Delaware in 1958, Belle found employment as a sub shop worker, a cafeteria worker at "Clementes", in the bus depot, Brandywine Nursing Home and finally as a domestic worker for such families as the Magazinos, the Pillis', and the Fortunatos. Sister Carrie learned the trade of drapery-making, upholstery, and was a dressmaker. She was co-founder of the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church Flower Club. She made some of the most beautiful floral arrangement for various occasions. Carrie was such a devoted servant of God and a member of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church for over 48 years. Carrie leaves to cherish her memory her husband Leo, daughters: Linda, Dorothea (Steven), Leo (Karen), sister Irene Smith. brothers Benny Sales (Justine), Ray Sales (Annie). In .laws Lenton Smith, Sr. and Annie Bell Walker. Grandchildren: Jerome, Carrie, Stephanie, Darlene. Sonny, and Nachure. Seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Eula Mae Morrison, Aunt Mary Senior, Brothers Ralph, Clay, Major and O.C. and sisters Ola Mae and Inez.
