Carla Rosalie Hampton

January 14, 1971 — September 17, 2022

Carla Rosalie Hampton was born January 14, 1971 to the late Joseph Gregory and Patricia Wing in
Wilmington DE. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 19, 2022 surrounded by
her family at the age of 51.

Carla, who was affectionately known as "Beans "or "Carla Beans" received her early education in the
Delaware Public School system attending Thomas McKean High School until her Junior year when she
discovered she was pregnant with her first child. That didn't stop her from graduating as she later joined
the Delaware Adolescent program (DAPI) and was able to earn her GED which she was determined to
obtain despite being a teen mom.

Carla had a passion for Cosmetology and was self-taught. Although she graduated from the Institute of
Hair Design, she was a visual learner and would watch someone do a style & immediately be able to
replicate it adding her own unique touch. She would often use her sister as a guinea pig to practice the
latest styles. She would get so irritated and pop you with the comb/brush if you wouldn't be still. And
yes, she was heavy-handed.

Prior to facing health complications, Carla worked for several companies such as The News Journal,
Townsend Inc. and The Gannett Co. When her health permitted, Carla was always able to secure
employment using her unique charm and whit, an asset she often utilized to get what she wanted.
Carla was NOT a patient person but was slow to wrath. However, once she was mad, there was no
stopping her (a trait passed down to her children). Carla was a "penny pincher" and resourceful when
her funds were limited. She could stretch her money like a rubber band but could accomplish anything
as if she were wealthy. Despite her physical struggles, she loved to laugh. Carla had a contagious laugh
and did this weird snorkel-type sound when she belly laughed forcing you to laugh also. She was born
a warrior and there was nothing she couldn't conquer when she put her mind to it.
Carla adored her grandchildren and did anything in the world to see them happy. She spoiled them
insanely at any cost. She was street smart at an early age and followed the code of the streets. Some
people may not know but Carla was quite the songbird and even sang on the choir briefly before faced
with health problems that affected her breathing.

Carla gave her life to Christ in her teenage years and was baptized at Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist
Cathedral shortly after. Despite her flaws, she knew God and had a personal relationship with the Savior.
She will be sorely missed by many.

Carla is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Gregory; Maternal grandmother Rosalie Wing; Maternal
Grandfather: Earnie Wing, Maternal Uncles: Dennis and Melvin Wing, and two Maternal Aunts Zetta
