Founder & Presiding Prelate of Cathedral of New Beginnings Church

Bishop Jerome E. Cuthbertson Sr., was born in Welch, West Virginia on July 1st, 1958 to the late District Elder George M. Cuthbertson and Ruth Cuthbertson. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Armed Forces, and completed a three year enlistment. Bishop Cuthbertson met and married Jane Elizabeth Gross on May 31, 1986. God blessed this union with 3 children: Jerome Jr., Jordon, and Jasmyn. He has been a loving and devoted husband and father, teaching them to love and fear God. All three of his children and their spouses currently serve alongside him in the ministry in multiple capacities.

Bishop Cuthbertson accepted the Lord at a very young age and served in several capacities in the United Holy Church of America organization over 40 years. He served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon Board Chairman, Delaware Subdistrict Finance Chairman, Youth Choir Director, and Church Drummer. In November 1992, Pastor Cuthbertson received his call to the ministry under the pastorate of Elder Ralph Dennis. Having a strong desire to learn the Word of God, he attended the United Christian College, the School of the Warrior, New Life Bible School, and the Moody Bible Institute across several years.

In 2002, Bishop Cuthbertson was ordained as an Elder and began serving as the Assistant Pastor of Gospel Tabernacle United Holy Church of America Inc., under the late Pastor Estelle Mayo. Due to her declining health, Bishop Cuthbertson taught bible study and handled all outside engagements. In 2009, after the passing of Pastor Mayo he was installed as Pastor. Soon after, following the leading of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Cuthbertson changed the name of the church to Cathedral of New Beginnings. From 2009 to present day, Bishop has been pastoring effectively in the ministry. In 2015, Cathedral of New Beginnings purchased its current place of worship. Bishop Cuthbertson oversaw the building renovations from start to finish, often getting his own hands dirty assisting with whatever was needed.

Bishop Cuthbertson founded Global Community Development Corporation in 2014 which serves the community of Wilmington, Delaware in several facets. Global C.D.C. has specialized in providing childcare to at-risk communities, homeless outreach and health fairs. For the past 8 years, Bishop Cuthbertson served as a board member of the Delaware Healthy Mothers and Infants Consortium (D.H.M.I.C). Under the D.H.M.I.C., he’s assisted with implementing the Thriving Communities program that is currently a statewide initiative that addresses socioeconomic determinants of health.

Bishop Cuthbertson was an effective communicator of God’s Word who is known to break down the Bible and its teachings for all to understand. Despite recent health related issues, he remained active in the ministry. He is beloved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him and was always a true servant of God.
