Armand Scharif Jones better known to many as “Poppy” was born
along with his twin sister Chariss "Resse” on November 15, 1988,
in Wilmington, DE to Marian Jones and Thomas Fletcher. Poppy
departed this life on July 26, 2024, at Christiana Hospital.
“Poppy” received his education in the Red Clay, and Christina
School Districts, graduating from Glasgow High School. After high
school Poppy attended the Wilmington Job Corps earning and
graduating with a certificate in facility maintenance, and started
his career with Wilmington Head Start.
Poppy was willing to lend a helping hand to people in the
community. He loved sports and was a diehard Eagles and
Lakers fan. Poppy loved to always be dripped out in a fitted
baseball cap, and a Taylor Moore outfit, while riding around on his
motor scooter.
Poppy had a very beautiful, infectious smile that would light up a
room. He had many jokes to tell. He would always tell the kids
“yall better stop running and sit down, the hospital is closed”
Poppy is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal
grandparents.
He is survived by his children, Cristiano, Ah’mere, Armani, Arielle,
Mackenzie, Armand Jr., Ahmad Jones, and Godson, Don Jr.,
parents, Marian Jones, and Thomas Fletcher, sisters, Yvette
Brown, Shaunta’ Jones, Chariss Jones(his twin), Dijon Scott,
Jiairra Carter, and beloved god mother, Tammie Anderson, his
brothers from another, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins,,
nieces, nephews, and friends.
