Anthony Rex Wilson

Anthony Rex Wilson was born March 6, 1961 in Wilmington, Del. to Violese Wilson Brown

and Arthur "Skinny" Wilson. Anthony passed away on Tuesday July 11, 2023. At the

Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, Del. After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded

by his loving family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Anthony received his early education in the Delaware public school system. Anthony loved

taking things apart and putting them back together, he could fix anything. He was known as

the gadget guy. Anthony enjoyed teaching others. He also enjoyed making people laugh.

Anthony spent most of his time with the love of his life, which was down on the docks at the

Port of Wilmington and at Longshoremen Hall. He was employed for over 25 years.

Anthony loved his family, especially his mother. At an early age Anthony looked up at his

mother and told her “Mommy no matter what I will always love you”

Anthony had many hobbies (fishing, being on his boat, going to the sixers games and eating

good food while spending time with his family). He was an expert operating the crane and

the forklift down on the waterfront. Anthony’s favorite saying was “I am on my way to work!”

He would often come late or leave early to events due to his dedication and commitment to

his job! On April 29 th , 2023, Anthony received his recertification for operating the crane, he

was so happy about this accomplishment. In addition to overcoming 

life's challenges and obstacles he did it all with a positive attitude and a loving smile.

Anthony was preceded in death by his grandparents Myrtle and Wilbert

Johnson, Father Arthur "Skinny" Wilson, Siblings: Lucinda, Teresa, Nobel, Sheena, Michael,

Angela and Arlet, Aunts: Lillian, Marie, Hazel, Malinda, Genevieve, Uncles: Noble, Wilbert

Jr., Robert.

Anthony is survived by his Mother Violese Wilson Brown, Daughter Meta Reams-

Butts "Tom”, Siblings ( Tanyel “Tangie” Wilson, Mark Wilson, Althea Cooper, Arthur

Wilson, Art Wilson, Diane Wooten-Smith) Grandchildren ( Tomera Jackson, Taneeya

Daniels, Eric and Nasir Jones), Devoted nieces ( Ronnette, Whitney, Jasmine, and

Lashea. Devoted nephews Jermaine “Man,” Odie, and Great nephew Kenneth Jr.

Devoted cousins Rosie, Jane, Paula. As well as a host of relatives and friends, and

Longshoreman Family.
