Anthony Francis Patton was born July 18, 1949 to Florence Elizabeth Patton and the late Joseph Henry Patton, Sr. in Wilmington, DE.
Anthony attended St. Patrick's Elementary School, Salesianium High School, and graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Anthony served in the United States Army. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 33 years of service.
In 1969, he was united in holy matrimony to Phyllis Sandra McGriff. Their union birthed three children, Anthony, Erica and Quiana. Anthony had a special love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they loved their Pop-pop.
He was preceded in death by his late brother, Dwight Carlos Patton and grandmother, Rita D. Carty.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis; son, Anthony; daughters, Erica and Quiana; seven grandchildren, Deziree, Eric, Andre, Anthony Jr., Taylor, Nathan, and Kendall; great grandchild, Kristian; brothers, Joseph, Kenneth, Barry; and sisters, Patricia, Carmella, Marcella, and Leslie.
Viewing will take place on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1012 N. French Street, Wilmington, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the viewing. Interment will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
