Anna Victoria Hawkins is the daughter of the late Victor and Annie Smith. She was one of seven children. She was the last surviving sibling. Anna was born on September 15, 1927, in Big Woods, Maryland. She received her wings on the morning of January 23, 2025, at the precious age of 97.
Anna (Gran) attended St. Joe’s Catholic School in Wilmington, DE. After school she was employed by many families in Wilmington, Delaware. Anne was employed by one family for 62 years. Retiring at the tender age of 85.
Gran aka Anna, was a loving, caring, and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved her family; she was helpful to many families and friends. Those that knew her would miss her beautiful smile. Gran loved spending her free time with her late husband and family at the casinos. Anna was the matriarch of her family.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Annie Smith, her husband William Gilbert Hawkins, her daughter Alice Cornish, and her six siblings.
Anna is survived by her daughter Helen (Delmas) Needam, Sheila Sharp, Vanessa (Keith) Sackes, Annette (Jesse) Denkins, Loretta White, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 4 nieces, 3 nephews and a host family and friends. Gran brought love and joy into our lives, and she will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
