Alfred Abraham McKinney, son of the late Annie Bell and late Nebbie McKinney, was
born on January 28, 1935, in Oak Park, Georgia. He passed away peacefully in his
home on September 26, 2022, in Wilmington, Delaware.
Abe was a devoted son, brother, and father, who love serving the Lord, being with his
family, and playing music. He received his education in Georgia. In the mid-nineteen
sixties he decided to leave Georgia with his daughter Dorothy Jean, and they moved to
Wilmington, Delaware where he resided until his passing. While in Delaware he
worked at the mushroom plant, NCR, he was an awesome mechanic with his brother
Ray McKinney in which they owned their own shop on Market Street in Wilmington
Delaware. He was also a skilled professional carpet installer in which he took his
nephew Ricky Bennett under his wings.
Abe was a devoted and faithful member of Christian United Fellowship Baptist Church
in which he played the piano and keyboard for them, as he loved playing for the church.
Abe enjoyed playing music with various musicians and his devoted friend "Knox". He
encouraged music to be within his children's lives as many of us play instruments and
sing. You could always hear Abe humming a tune. When he was relaxing and not
working or playing music he would sit and watch Kung Fu, Westerns and Televangelist
shows and movies.
Abe had a great sense of humor, very talkative, and told the best dad jokes. He was full
of life and his laughter was contagious. He opened his door and would help anyone who
would ask even if it was just for a dozen of eggs. Abe was the backbone and core of the
family. Many people, who knew Abe, knew him as a kindhearted caring man and his
legacy will continue and will never be forgotten.
