Roland Ulysses Byrd, Jr.

September 18, 1950 — April 1, 2021

ROLAND ULYSSES BYRD, JR. was born on September 18, 1950, in KYOTO, JAPAN to the late Roland Ulysses Byrd, Sr. and Lola Emily Byrd (Driggins). He was their only surviving child.

Roland grew up in a military family, traveling the world with his parents. He spent his early years in Ramstein Air Force Base in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he went to elementary and middle school. They lived there until Roland Sr's death in 1965.

The family moved back to the New Castle, Delaware, and Roland continued his education at DeLaWarr High School and Goldey-Beacom College, where he earned an associate's degree.

He was known for his love of classic cars like his green Buick Wildcat and many others.

Roland is survived by his five children, Victor Davis (Tarnisha), Tyron Trapp, Ralonda Ivy Smith, Rahiem Gladney (Kate), stepson Larry McGuire, and his grandchildren. Also, left to cherish his memory is his Brother/friend since his youth; Skip/Dillard Wells, and a host of other friends.

He is predeceased by his wife Lottie Byrd. Previous Events
