Iman Dawson was born March 6, 1983, to Malcholm and Teresa Dawson in Wilmington Delaware. She grew up in Wilmington Delaware where she received her education in the Red Clay School District and graduated from Alfred I DuPont High School. Iman was always a great student and excelled in her academic endeavors as an honor student. She later studied at the University of Delaware focused on Business Administration.
Iman had a love for sports and music. She was a self-taught pianist and played clarinet as well. She played both basketball and baseball for her school and outside leagues.
Iman had an extraordinary love for children and enjoyed working in the family childcare business. She had a passion for assisting in the development of their academic, social, and emotional skills. For over 22 years, Iman ran the annual summer camp and provided oversight for classrooms serving children ranging from newborn to school age. Students and parents alike appreciated her attentiveness to their needs which allowed Iman to play a critical role in the growth of the business.
Iman loved to travel and family gatherings. She especially loved spending time at the beach and amusement parks. Attending family barbeques was a highlight of her summer trips.
Above everything she accomplished, Iman loved being a mom. She enjoyed movie night at home with her children and creating fun memories with them.
Iman was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Eva Jenkins. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents Malcholm (Michelle) Dawson, Teresa Dawson, her children, Shaila Dawson and James Morgan Dawson, her siblings,
La Chae Dawson, Malcholm Dawson Jr., and Wyatt Dawson. A special niece Celeste Noel Dawson and a special nephew Dominic Dre Dawson. Her special friends Nora, Rhonda, and Dawn along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
